Sosua - The Dominican Republic's Beach Vacation & Holiday Travel Destination
 Sosua is a great place for anyone who is looking for a lot of value for their money and who really want an active beach town in which to spend their vacation. Sosua was the first tourist destination in the country and development began back in the 70s and 80s. Some say it is the Acapulco of the Dominican Republic.
The best thing about Sosua as that it’s fabulous for those who want a mix of beach and excursions. Sosua Beach is one kilometer long and is one of the best in the country, maybe in the Caribbean. The water is warm and the sky is blue. You can easily pass your days on the beach. However, if you want to make Sosua your home base, you can easily get around and visit some of the surrounding area. Cabarete is close by and has some of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions in the world. It is also a fabulous place to dive. If you are a golfer at heart, then you are close to all the golfing action that Playa Dorada and Playa Grande have to offer.

Puerto Plata, the North Coast’s largest city, is an absolutely fascinating place. It got this name (meaning ‘Silver Port’ from Christopher Columbus himself, due to the effect the sun made on the water as he approached the land. Puerto Plata is a city full of historic attractions as well as modern accommodations; there is always a lot to do. It’s the home of many nationally-recognized attractions such as the Brugal Rum Factory, the largest rum factory in the Dominican Republic and the third largest producer of sugar cane rum. Guided tours give visitors the possibility to observe part of the manufacturing process and to purchase the rum at much discounted prices. Yet the best part of the tour is the ending - a daiquiri tasting!
Cabarete is famous for having great weather conditions for sports such as windsurfing or skateboarding. This is the best for an incredibly thrilling vacation destination. The turquoise waters in Cabarete also make for great scuba diving and sailing. |
