In and Around Sosua
 Sosua is near many excellent and easy to get to attractions and the best thing to do is to rent a car if you want to see them.
Cabarete
Cabarete is close enough that anyone staying in Sosua can easily get there. Cabarete is one of the most famous places in the world for windsurfing and kitesurfing because of its ideal conditions. The near constant eastern winds and ocean swell are coupled with light currents and a coral reef that creates a natural barrier to the waves, making this an ideal spot whether you are experienced or want to learn it for the first time. There are also plenty of businesses offering lessons and equipment rental.
Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata is another fabulous destination with lots to do for the visitor who is looking for fun and excitement. You can visit the Amber Museum, Central Park, the San Filipe Fort, the Puerto Plata Lighthouse, the Taino Art Museum, or ride in a cable car to the top of Isabela de Torres Mountain to take in the Botanical Gardens. You can also take a tour of the rum factory, the third largest in the Dominican Republic, and sample the fabulous rum made onsite. This is a great place to take home rum at a great price. There is Ocean World Park offering a zoo and marina and for those who are looking for real action, they will find it at the Columbus Water Park and at the Fun City Action Park where there are go karts and bumper cars to play in and pass the day. These are both just 15 minutes from Sosua and worth the trip.
Sosua
Sosua is an active and attractive beach town. It features big all-inclusive resorts as well as many small hotels. It's close to many other destinations, and countless tours are always offered to help exploring the area. |
