Sosua - The Dominican Travel & Vacation Paradise
Sosua is located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic and is central between Puerto Plata and Cabarete. This makes it an ideal location for checking out all the fantastic attractions and activities in these two places. Sosua was the first tourist destination in the Dominican Republic and is very much a hot spot for travelers looking for the beach.
The beach in Sosua is fine white sand and beautiful. There are plenty of shops along the beach and in town and dining is abundant too. The great thing about Sosua is that you can enjoy the beach there and still check out the fabulous attractions and fun places to go all around the area. Whether you want to golf, go exploring and hiking up waterfalls, scuba dive, windsurf or kitesurf, or just play at the water park and on the go karts in Puerto Plata, there is so much to do that you will not be bored – that is unless you truly want to be.
Sosua is such an amazing place that many people from other countries have made it their home. Sosua was first settled by Jewish refugees who were escaping the Second World War. They set up a dairy community and although they are gone, the dairy industry still thrives in Sosua. Germans, Austrians, Canadians, and Americans have since settled and businesses, shops, and restaurants line the beach. With this mix and the diversity and development it is nice to see that Sosua has still managed to keep its charm. |
